My wife's grandmother Stephana Cavanaugh b. 1873 d. 1926 was adopted and we don't know anything about her birth or adopted family. She married Edwin Pratt abt. 1890 and they lived in Brooklyn, NY. When Edwin died in February,1909, she put her 2 youngest children, Emily b. 1906 and William b. 1900 in orphanages, and re-married. Her other, older, children were Edward, George, Margaret, and Mary.
