Thanks, Scott. I appreciate the explanation. I came upon this interesting situation while researching my wife's Cavanah ancestors. Her grandfather was Edgar Ross Cavanah (1871-1947), apparently a son of William W. Cavanah and Mary Jane Lisman. As best I have been able to determine, William W. Cavanah was probably a son of David Cavanah (b. 1801). If this is wrong, I'd be glad for someone to set me straight.
When I posted my query about Charles Cavanah, 78, living in the household of Mary Carneal, 38, I hadn’t noticed that the next-door neighbor, Posey H. McClendon, 24, had an elderly Cavanah woman living in his home. This was Ivy Cavanah, 76, born in South Carolina. Posey H. McClendon’s wife was Sabra, and they had children named Almeda, 4; Parale, 2; and Octavia, less than a year old. The household included a James L McClendon, 19, and a Seth H. Myers, 19, identified as a teacher.
This is intriguing. Old Cavanah gentleman in one home; old Cavanah lady in the neighboring home. There must be an interesting story here.
