I'm trying to find information on my maternal great, great, great grandfather, John Cavanagh. His son was William, born 1845/6 in Runcorn, who married Eliza Reynolds (born Beckles, Suffolk) at St Mary's Parish church, Widnes, Lancashire (now Merseyside) on 25/03/1866. The 1901 Census has William and Eliza living at 39 Gilbert Street in Runcorn. William worked on the canals, as did his son (also William, my maternal great grandfather, born 13th September 1875, who moved to Church near Accrington in Lancashire to work at Blyth's chemical works). I have a marriage certificate for William and Eliza, which gives Williams father's details as 'John Cavanagh, Deceased'. I cannot find a birth certificate for William, or a death certificate for John. I have also looked for a marriage certificate for John however I have had no luck. This is the first point I have hit a brick wall.
