I'm also interested in Cavanagh's from Roscommon County Ireland. I'm looking for information on the relatives of my mother's grandfather, MICHAEL CAVANAGH, who was born ca 1840 in Roscommon County, Ireland. His daughter, Catherine Teresa CAVANAGH, is my grandmother. I don't know exactly when he immigrated to New York. His mother was Jane Durr and his father was either Michael or Timonthy Cavanagh and may have lived in townland of Pidgeon Park (Kilmacumsy) and Elphin Parish.
You may want to check the bulletin board at the Roscommon County website and post an inquiry there. (Go to: http://www.leitrim-roscommon.com/index.shtml) In fact, there is a post on the bulletin board entitled, "Cavanagh Migrations-Roosky,Kilglass,Rosc. to USA" by Peter Cavanagh, that mentions a James Cavanagh.
I don't know if any of this information helps but I'm glad to provide with any other information that I may have.
