Researching the family of Joseph Dennis COTHRAN. Joseph was born in Ga., possibly Harris Co. It is thought that his parents might be John and Helen (Bay) COTHRAN. His siblings were: (1) Thomas Henry who married Amanda KNIGHTEN in Concecuh Co. Al. in 1868 and Lillie SLEDGE in Grimes Co. TX in 1896;
(2) Catherine Lillis who married Ephriam P. HYDE of Concecuh Co. Al. and (3) Jim Cothran.
Thomas, Joseph, and Lillis moved to TX from Al. in the early 1870's. On census records, they state that their parents were born in SC. The spelling of the name variations are: Cotharn, Cothran, Cauthen, and Cothron
