Jonathon, you are missing one sibling of John, my father, Melvin Ansel Cauthen. Our ancestor John Irving Cauthen was born on July 29, 1880 and died on Sept. 2, 1950 in Newton, NC. His wife was Belle Nancy Baker Cauthen, born on May 29, 1882 and died on June 6th, 1935. We spent many a Sunday afternoon at Thelma and and Clyde's home in Maiden. Their sons Richard and Steve were always there. Please tell more about yourself and let me know if I can be of further help.
