Bob,
Do you have knowledge or information regarding Cauthens of Lancaster County who served in the Civil War? My g.grandfather was Joseph Daniel Cauthen (b.ca. 1838 - d. 1924). My information indicates that he was the son of a William R. Cauthen (b. ca. 1785 - d. ca. 1864). The records I have found indicate that Joseph D. Cauthen was paroled at Appomattox on April 9, 1865. I am particularly interested in learning about the military units in which he served as I am hoping to visit some of the battlefields where his unit was engaged in combat.
I would appreciate your response.
