Can definitely use some help here, folks. Have been trying to find maiden name of my husband's gr-gr-gr-grandmother, Jane CAWTHON. Also need her husband's first name. Jane was in Coffee Co. TN in 1838 Tax List. Apparently her husband had already died. She left a will recorded July 1839 and named her 8 children: Elizabeth married to a Thompson; Ebi married to Eli Hill; William R. married a Mary...; Martin B. married Nancy Elliot; Pleasant; Emily "Milly" married James Whittemore; Mathilde married a McCullough; Felisha (Tabitha) married a Laird(Lord?). Jane is buried at Wells Meetinghouse in Cannon Co. TN. This branch of the family was connected to the Dabneys and the Dabney name is used extensively as a first or middle name of many of my husband's ancestors.
I believe all of the above children were born in GA, and Jane and her husband were probably married there. Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
