I know nearly nothing about My Martha Cooper. She may have been born in 1835, 1840,1843,depending on which census you trust. My James Charleston Causey's(1857-1940) death certificate lists his parents as James Larence Causey of NC and Martha Cooper of SC. I have placed these two families next to each other on the 1900 census, so am fairly confident that I am tracking the right people in James and Martha back to 1870. I have found a marriage of James L Causey and Martha R Cooper on 28, August 1853 in Macon County Alabama. I fits the right time and Place. BUT according to the Civil War widow's pension Martha' s name is Martha A not R. The Census also lists her as Martha A.. I know the Marriage could be them and just have the wrong letter. It is so frustrating!!!
I wonder if Asa Garden Causey listed in other posts could be Gordon? another stretch I'm sure?
