Chuck, I see alot of info on the many Charles Cosby's from Virginia. I also have a Chalres in my family tree but he is listed as marrying a Sara or Sally from Louisa Co, Va. 1795. He also had a son Charles but I haven't found out who he married yet. My next grandparet in this line was Wingfield M. Cosby, then Ryland T. Cosby, Orrie Lee Cosby, my mother, Norma Cosby and then me.
It's too bad they had to use the same four or five names over and over again - it certainly makes it hard to know if your tracking down the right person. I am having a hard time finding more on Ryland than a name.
Maybe your branch is the one we have not been able to account for.
