Hi George,

Thank you so much for this additional information! As a researcher, I don't like to take what I find on the internet as fact until I find proof, but with 30 clients of my own, I don't have the time to find and verify all of the information I have been finding on the Cauley's (at least not in time for Mother's Day). But I still wanted to make sure I wasn't giving her the WRONG family history! So thank you for the clarifications.

Would you like some information on William Harvey Cauley, Jr and his descendants?
He left home at a young age, a teenager, and went to South Florida. I have not been able to find him in the 1910 census. William and Onie Alliene Hill married on July 26, 1913 in Kissimmee, Osceola County, Florida. Onie was born March 13, 1895 in Orlando Florida to Charles Wright Hill and Ella Gardner. Onie wrote a book about her life, and there is a rather long story of why they married in Kissimmee and not in GOulds, where they both lived and William H had his farming business. In 1920 they were in Dade County, Florida, in Goulds, with daughter Alliene Hill and son, yup, you guessed it, William Harvey. In the book, Onie said she knew absolutely nothing about his family, and even his death certificate had no name for his parents, but did list a place of birth (it said Danville-Onie was the informant).
William Cauley was a very successful tomato farmer and owned a lot of property in South Dade, in the area called Goulds/The Redlands/Silver Palm. You can find mention of him if you search the Internet for William Cauley of Cauley Square. Some of the property and buildings that he owned were later bought and made into a little "village" area called Cauley Square, and the buildings were used for art and antique shops and a tea house. See this web site: http://www.redlandriot.com/CauleySquare.html

Anyway, William Cauley eventually became an alcoholic and died of alcohol related illness on April 15, 1934. His daughter Alliene Hill Cauley, is my husband's maternal Grandmother. She was born in Goulds, Dade County, Fl on April 23, 1914 and died in Miami on March 4, 1998. She was married twice and had 3 children, one of whom is my husband's mother. His son William Harvey was born Oct 16, 1917 in Goulds, Dade County, Fl and died August 16, 2006 in Miami.

If you would like me to send you photocopies of Onie's book, for the parts that refer to William H, I would be glad to copy them and send them to you. You can contact me at my regular email for that.

Thanks again for your help!
Jennifer ;-)
