Hi!
I'm looking for further information on my Caughran line.My 2x great-grandfather was Garret W.Caughran,born 1806 Ross Co.,OH.We think his father was Benjamin. The Caughran's migrated West to Knox Co.,IN. then Lawrence Co.,IL.before 1820.The mother was not mentioned. She might have died in OH. or along the way. The article I read said Benjamin had at least 6 children.
Garret W.Caughran married Elizabeth(Eliza)Slawson Grimes? on 18 May 1846 in Lawrence Co.,IL. He died there in 1861. Eliza was the d/o Jesse Slawson & Rachel Ann Reeves.Eliza was born in 1816 in Lawrence Co.,IL. & died there circa 1870.
Their daughter was Martha Mary Caughran. She was born in 1849 in Lawrence Co.,IL.Martha married John Byrne 29 Aug.1869 in Lawrence Co.,IL. He was the s/o Thomas Byrne & Mary McAndrew ? of Vincennes,Knox Co.,IN.formally of Ireland. Martha Byrne died on 30 Oct.1920 in Marion Co.,IN. & is buried in Knox Co.,IN.
If anyone knows of any of the descendants of the other siblings of Garret W.Caughran or who his mother was for sure please contact me! Many thanks for your help!
