A lot of people claim and have added names to the Melungeon issue that were never called Melungeon.Melungeon is not a race of people. The Caudill's did come from England. The people who were called Melungeon, DNA has proved them to be of European and African descent so far. American Indian DNA has not shown up in the Core Melungeon's to date. I have a friend who descends from the Collins and Caudill families. Caudill from England and the Collins family ( his line ) African. If there is Indian in these lines it may have come from some of the women they may have married but has not been proven through DNA yet.
