This is a longshot -- I don't have anything on your Caudell but was wondering (and this is the longshot) if you have any female Caudell named Mary who may have been born either in Illinois or North Carolina and married a John C. Roberts. They are listed in the 1860 census in Audrain County, MO. That is located in the Northeast corner of Missouri. I just have had a difficult time finding any thing close to my Mary and you are at least in the state.
