Hi Simone,
Yes my family line also goes back in a direct line to James Blakeney Caudell born 1746. I did some research years ago but the details I found then which were slim, are not to hand. I remember asking at the time, If the Blakeney middle name could have been taken from the Blakeney Regiment who fought at The Battle Of Culluden Moor against Bonnie Prince Charlie the year before he was born 1745.
My farther was Ernest Jonathan Caudell born 1908 he had a twin brother Edward, his farther was Fredrick born I think in 1867.
I do remember something about Charles Caudell 1805-38 he was a carpenter by proffesion when all the rest including my Dad were bricklayers.
James had a brother William who also married a Sarah, their grave is marked by a large stone at the door of The Parish Church, Waltham St Lawrence, Berkshire, England.
Best Wishes Alan
