Janie: I had that stupid worm virus, so it's taken me a while to get rid of it and get back to your message. Thank you so much for your message -- I had seen David's will, but didn't know for sure who married whom and I like as complete a family group as possible. I'd like to run some theories past you, if you don't mind! I think that my David is PROBABLY the David named in the will, BUT, I'm not sure and I'll tell you why. There is another marriage of a David Johnson or Yanson in Wythe County to a Peggy BURKETT. It takes place in the 1790s, contemporaneous to David Sr's other children. Yet, the David who married Susannah Catron is shown by later census records to be born abt. 1790. As I'm sure you already know, there was a Patrick Johnson or Johnston also living in Wythe County, and a couple others I can't remember right now! I can't find my copy of it, BUT -- I did find a land record on the Virginia State Archives site to David Johnson or Johnston in Montgomery County, and I figure that's our man. My plan (which I haven't done yet, because I've been concentrating on other lines) has been to get the Wythe County and Montgomery County deed records and see what I find in there. Did you have that marriage to Peggy Burkett in your records? I just think that's more likely to be David Sr's son, and the David who married Susan Catron is too young to be the same one who married Peggy Burkett. Thanks and I'll look forward to hearing from you. G Notify Administrator about this message?
