I hope this information is helpful to you.

I have (in my research and records) found that in fact Ephriam is a son of John and Margaret Elizabeth Kettering.

However they claim there were 11 children. I can find only 10 children, and of the 10 only 4 were Kettering the rest used Catron.

It breaks down like this:
William Henry Kettering, Mary Magdalene Elizabeth Kettering,Jacob Kettering, and John Kettering, Jr.

Then came,
Ephriam Catron, Austin Mullins Catron,
Joseph Catron (he died in the civil war), David Catron,Valentine Catron and Peter Jackson Catron.

Rumor has it that they were all Kettering until the Civil War era at which time the younger five changed to Catron.
It is said that the name was changed to receive war pensions.

Ephriam who homesteaded near Luther was not the Ephriam who was Austin Mullens' Brother.
My Grandfather (George Catron)
knew Ephraim's daughter Emma.
She lived near Luther and had read about some of my grandfather's exploits
as a deputy sheriff in Oklahoma, and looked him up.
My Grandfather never tried to determine how close the relationship was but always claimed she was a cousin of some sort.

Good luck

Scott
