(found by GGGG-Granddaughter: Dolly Thorn-Grega, at the Somerset County Courthouse 4-30-05 filed under John Caton 1829-27, the will is dated August 13, 1813, and lists John's and Catherina's children as John, James, and Thomas. Somerset Court Huse #27 - 1829) "I am proud and thrilled to share this with all my Caton cousins!!! Love You All!!!!"

In the name of God I John Katon of Elklick Township Somerset County on the 18th day of August 1813. Considering the shortness of life and mortality of death do make this my last Will and Testament as follows, first I bequeth my Soul into the hands of God from whence it came, and my Body to the earth to be buried in a Christian like manner. Further is it my Will if I should die that my surviving wife Catharina shall have my moveables and imoveables in her posession for her use or for her mentainings as long as she lives or remain my widow but as soon as she dies or marries again, then what will remain of the moveable shall be sold on Public Sale and one of my Heirs Shall have as the other namely John, James, and Thomas, and the place shall be appraised by three sufficent Freeholders chosen by my Executor and the three boys and which of the boys is the ablest shall have the offer to it and if the three boys are not agreed to the appraisement of the place then it shall be sold on Public Sale to the Highest bidder, but if it is taken by the appraisement or at the Public Sale it shall be paid upon installments as the time will permitt it to begin at oldest down to youngest and so on till all is paid, but him that buys the place shall give sufficent security to the Heirs for the money. I appoint my trusty friend John Griffith of David? for to be my Executor over all my estate to pay debts and demand such J.C.? and I do hereby impower and Authorise him to assign? the place over to whom that buys it by Deed Bill of sale or any other instrument of Writings it shall be as good as if I had done it with my own hand so this is my last Will and Testament and as such I will Sign it.
