Dear Donna,
Yes,if they're buried in a Catholic cemetery, the Church would have a record. If they're buried in the diocese that serves San Jose, you could contact the director of Catholic cemeteries for that diocese. The records may not be in the director's office. They're more likely to be at the office that is in charge of the particular cemetery where they are buried. Some older cemeteries have limited office hours and limited days that the office is open.
