Mark, I have Thomas Gayle Cathey in our family database. Same person as yours.
His father was: William Cathey, Jr. (RN=336), b: 16 Jan 1779 in Rowan Co., NC. d: 02 Aug 1844 in Marshall Co., MS he met and married Elizabeth "Patsy" Gale in April 1806 in Sumner County. She was b: Bet. 1775 - 1794.
William's father was: William Cathey (RN=309) b: 16 Jan 1747 in Anson Co., NC. d: 1799 in Sumner Co., TN. William Cathey (RN=309), son of Alexander Cathey (RN=303), was 19 years old when his father died in Rowan County, North Carolina. Both William and his older brother John (RN=306) received land in Alexander's 1766 will. (Note: William's brothers James (RN=310) and Richard (RN=311) were younger and were willed land which their mother (Mary Elizabeth Pinkney, RN=304) received until her death.
RN=309's wife was Elsie Alice Hagan, b: 10 Sep 1754; d: 06 Mar 1822 in Maury Co., TN.
