Pat Cather's, 3gr grandfather and mine was William Cather, father of David Cather b. 1806 in Greene Co., Pa. Pat found William's grave in Athen Co., Ohio at the Alexander Union Cemetery. Next to the Alexander Presbyterian Church, org. 1832. His stone reads: "In Memory of William Cather who died Oct. 21, 1838 aged 78 y, 9 m, 21 d." If my calcuations are correct, he was born Jan. 1, 1760. Next to his grave is the following: "In Memory of Lucinda daughter of David and Elizabeth Cather who died Oct. 20 1844 age 7 y, 8 m, 11 d" This would make her born 9th Feb. 1837. Also next to William Cather is the following: "In Memory of Nancy daughter of David and Elizabeth Cather"...the rest unreadable. With two of David's daughters being buried next to William Cather, it is my belief that this proves that William Cather is the father of David. I want to thank Pat Cather for doing the "field work" and sharing this great find! Good going cuz!...john
