Hi - my ggrandfather, James Robert Cates, was born in Orange Co. North Carolina. His father is not known for sure - but I have found a marriage license for Rial B. Cates and Nancy Lynch. I believe that to be my gggrandfather. However, I do not find any other records of Rial - or Riley. I did find a Riley son of Dicey and Thomas Cates and wonder if this can be my Riley. Nancy and Riley had boys, James Robert, Dennis Hiram, William(Willis) Ancel and Thomas Meredith. Some of those names are in Thomas and Dicey's family as well. Does anyone know anything about Thomas and Dicey's family and where the family went - from NC? I know that James Robert and brothers went to Texas and Oklahoma. Thanks for any help.
