CATES family in Washington Co. ME early 1800s. Need help

I am trying to connect my Mary J. CATES b. ca 1828 in Washington Co., ME. Mary married Elijah Whitney GROVER Oct. 10, 1847 Machias, ME. Mary died, probably from the typhoid epidemic, Dec. 27, 1847, just a couple of months after marriage.

I found a Samuel CATES in Washington Co., ME in the 1850 census. Would like to know if Mary connects to this family.
