My paternal grandfather Cesar Augustus, (unsure of the spelling of these names), Castro was from the Lima Peru area. He lived there in the later part of the 1800s. He founded the newspaper La Prenza. He married Raquel Cabellos(unsure of spelling, phonetically: 'su-by-yose'. Raquel Cabellos was the daughter of a rich and influential family in Ecuador, possibly around Quito. She was 16 years old and an acclaimed concert pianist scheduled for a world tour when she gave it up to marry Cesar Castro. They moved to Brooklyn New York in the 1880-1890s area. Cesar was a patent attorney and employed as a Spanish translator for a company in New York. They lived on a street called Avenue P in a Dutch colonial house. In the 1940s-1950s they lived in Teaneck NJ. Cesar and Raquel had sons Cesar, in construction, (known as 'Ray'), Alexander who died around 12 years old, and William Randolph, an engineer, (my father) who lived until 2005 in Pennsylvania. William Randolph also had a daughter, my sister Maria Raquel Castro, now Anderson who lives in Kansas. Cesasr died around 1955 and Raquel in 1960. According to family legend Cesar was forced to leave Peru because of a revolution, and threats on his life due to his paper La Prenza backing the wrong political entity. This is about all the info I have on my family as I was in early grade school at the time my grandparents were living. I would appreciate any info any one may have on my family history. I only speak/read English.
