Jose Joaquin Castro b. 1769 Villa de Sinaloa,Mexico, m. Maria Antonia Amador 14 Jan 1791. Rafael de Jesus Castro b. 1803 m. Maria Solidad Cota. Both Rafael and his sister of were grantees, as well as Jose, of many, many, many acres of ranch land.Rafael and Solidad had 13 children, including Maria Adelayda who m. Luis Gonzaga NF Gonzales. This is my Castro Line. The founding familes of California are pretty much interelated, probably because there was a limited number of options at the time. Check out also BOTTILLER, RODIRIQUEZ, GONZALES, ATUNA, DE LA SERNA, COTA LUGO, SALGADO, ROMERO, ESTRADA. They pretty much cover the Monterrey Bay area, including Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, Watsonville. There are a number of church records in Watsonville re garding this family. Rafael is buried in Santa Cruz, has a big monument there.
