Casteel Family Genealogy Forum

I'm trying to learn if anybody has a demi-tasse spoon like ours. the Edmond Casteel I, the Philadelphia privateer, and his wife mentioned in their wills "little silver spoons" that were to go to their children. In our family, handed down through the Casteel-DeWitt line, is such a spoon--a well-worn silver-plated spoon with the phoenix bird on back and front of the handle. The wings curl up in such a way as to make the left one a perfect "C" and the right one a reverse "C". I heard years ago that it came from a Swedish connection. The Friends, one of whom m. a Casteel, started out in the Sweden's Delaware colony. Casteels have some Swedish blood too.
Not only did we get the spoon, but we do look Indian. Had to be told that by strangers as our Indian blood was kept very secret from us. I think we're from Indian John Casteel.
