My maiden name is Casteel (related through Shadrack Casteel. My Aunt has information that was passed down within the family, but I have no documentation. She said he was a Huguenot and came to America from France because of persecution from the Catholic Church. He was a merchant by trade and was considered quite wealthy. Can anyone back this up?
