Seeking parents of James William Casteel, b 20 Jul 1858, Polk Co., MO(?) mrd Mary Magdalene Looney, 30 Sept 1878, Green Co., Mo, d. 8 Jan 1937, Green Co., Mo, bur Polk Co., Mo. David Burton Casteel, his son gave information on death certificate says James' father was David and didn't know mother's name. A story in the family, James mother and sister taken by the Indians about 1861 (could have been soldiers during the Civil War) and they never heard from them again. He was bound out. Not on the 1860 census, on 1870 living with a William S. Payne family in Dade Co, 11 yrs. old. On the 1880 census with father-in-law, William R. (Riley) Looney. Mary Looney died May 1902 and James William Casteel mrd #2 Mary Greenwood, her mother a Champe. Mary Greenwood buried in Polk Co., cemetery. James W. Casteel had William Arthur, b. 1879, David Burton Casteel b 7 Oct 1881, Flora Maybele b 11 Apr 1885, Joseph b 28 Aug 1887, Thomas Berthel, b. 17 Jan 1890.
