EMORY CONDA CASTEEL (JOHN WESLEY7, ARCHIBALD6, JESSE5, SHADRICK/SHADRACH4, EDMOND H.3, EDMUND2, EDMUND (DU CHASTEL DE BLANGERVAL)1) was born September 04, 1859 in Bean's Cove, Bedford Co., PA, and died August 30, 1923 in Bedford Co., PA. He married (1) SARAH D. FISHER April 05, 1882 in Bedford Co., PA, daughter of JOHN FISHER and MARGARET (?). She was born July 09, 1857 in Allegany Co., MD, and died April 10, 1907 in Bedford Co., PA. He married (2) GEORGIA A. CROYLE April 22, 1909 in Bedford, Bedford Co., PA. She was born 1857, and died 1943.

Obituary from the Bedford Gazette, Bedford, PA dated Friday, August 31, 1923, p. 1:
"Conda Casteel, a well known and highly respected citizen of Bedford township died Thursday morning at 7:30. The cause of death is unknown but he has been ailing for several years. He was born in Bean's Cove September 4, 1859 and was the son of John Casteel. About 41 years ago he was married to Sarah Fisher. She died about 15 years ago. Later he was married to Georgie Crole who is still living. He is survived by the following children: Edgar S. and Charles C., both of Bedford borough, Ira of Bedford township and Daniel and Roy at home and Mrs. Edgar Diehl of Bedford and Mrs. Nancy Maxwell of Atlantic City. He is also survived by two brothers, Oscar Casteel of Bean's Cove and Daniel Casteel of Cumberland, Md. The funeral will be held Saturday forenoon at 10:00 at the house and interment at the Bedford Cemetery. Mr. Casteel was a stock dealer all his life and bought cattle and sheep throughout Bedford County, Huntingdon County, Somerset County, Western Maryland and Virginia."

Obituary from the Bedford Gazette, Bedford, PA dated Friday, April 19, 1907:
"Mrs. Sarah D. Casteel, wife of Conda Casteel, died at her home near Bedford on Wednesday, April 10, after a short illness, at the age of 46 years, 9 months and one day. She was a daughter of John D. and Margaret Fisher and was born in Allegany county, Md. on July 9m, 1860.
On april 5, 1882, she was united in marriage with Conda Casteel, who with seven children, survives the loss of a devoted wife and mother: Edgar, Charles, Ira, Daniel, Roy, May and Nancy, all at home. She also leaves her mother and several brothers and sisters: Danile, S.S. and Walter Fisher, Mrs. Charles Metz, Mrs. Peter Donahoe, Mrs. John Knight, Mrs. Martha Donahoe and Miss Bettie, all of Cumberland.
Funeral services were held at the home at 10 o'clock Saturday morning, conducted by Rev. F. W. Biddle. Interment was made in the Bedford cemetery."

"Conda Casteel and Miss Georgia A Croyle, both of Bedford Township, were united in the bonds of matrimony at Trinity Lutheran parsonage, Bedford, by Rev. Dr. Culler, Thursday evening, April 22. Mr Casteel is proprietor of a meat market at this place. His bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Croyle, residing near Bedford. The Gazette extends congratulations."

"Edgar Casteel died Oct. 4 in the City Hospital in Cleveland, O., where he had been a patient for the past year. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Conda Casteel and was born in Bedford Township in January 1883, and married to Virginia Amos of Bedford. They resided here for a number of years and he and his brother Charles conducted a meat market. His wife, who also resides in Cleveland, survives. Funeral services conducted Oct. 6 and interment made in Cleveland."

"Charles Cleveland Casteel, aged 64, died of a broken neck suffered in a fall at his home in Befdford Sunday evening June 12. The accident occurred when he fell from a flight of steps.
A former Bedford butcher, Mr. Casteel was employed at the Midway. He was born in Beans Cove, July 12, 1884, a son of Conda and Sarah (Fisher) Casteel. He was married to the former Naomi Imler of Bedford.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four brothers - Ira and Roy Casteel, Bedford; Edgar, Cleveland, O.; D.J., Altoona, and a sister, Mrs. Nancy Maxwell, Atlantic City, N.J."
