The following article was published Thursday, July 15, 1909 in the Terre Haute Tribune on page 1:

"ROMANCE OF FORMER YEARS CULMINATES IN MARRIAGE

Old Couple Renews Love of Youth and Are Married in County Clerk's Office

The culmination of a pretty romance was brought about Thursday forenoon by the marriage of Hartley Brill, of Riley, Ind., and Mrs. Susan F. Castell, of Oklahoma. Mr. Brill, who gave his age as 63, is a rural mail carrier. The bride is 62 years old. It is said that many years ago before either were married they were friends and went about with the same young people in the vicinity of Riley. The young couple was often seen together and friends at that time expected a speedy marriage. However something happened; the young woman took a different turn and married Castell and about fifteen years ago moved with her family to Oklahoma.

Mr. Brill also married and reared a family near Riley, his wife dying seven years ago. Word reached Indiana friends nine years ago that Mrs. Castell's husband was dead but the widow never returned to this state until about two months ago when she came to visit her cousin, Miss Molly Moss.

It so happened that Brill in his rounds as mail carrier had occasion to deliver mail to his old time friend. It is said that soon his calls were increased and acquaintances learned that all the trips were not being made in the interest of Uncle Sam. Then one day about two weeks ago the gray-haired couple announced that they had decided to run the rest of life in double harness. That decision was put into effect Thursday when they and a dozen of their friends and relatives called at the county clerk's office, where, after securing a gold embossed license, they were married by the Rev. S. H. Caylor, of Riley.

Mr. Brill has property in Riley where the pair will make their home. It is said that Mrs. Brill has land in Oklahoma and had intended to return to that state some time this summer, but those plans were easily upset when her ardent suitor pressed his claim."
