Casteel Family Genealogy Forum

It boils down to paper trails plus DNA proving that the line you are working on has the same origin or matches in the Casteel DNA Project. For more detailed information, read about at familytreedna.com.
Example: If you were working on another surname project with someone and had attached relatives you thought were of your line, then you both entered the DNA Project for that surname and came up with different DNA, one of you would have attached to relatives you thought were yours, but weren't. This is very evident in the Warren Project I'm in also. Recently trees had to be redone because of the evidence of DNA proving the two lines who thought they were one turned out to be two different lines. This wasn't done with just two people testing but close to a hundred people testing. So far the Casteel line appears to be of the same recent origin.
The formula is paper trails and DNA to show people are working on the same line.
