I am looking for an Alex Casteel born in the mid 1800's in Texas and died before 1900. I found him listed on 2 of his daughters death certificates- Tillie Wilburn Casteel Polley and Nora Virginia Durrett Casteel.
I also found:
-1880 US census in Kaufman County, Precinct 2 District 35, an Alex Castile (b. 1862 in Texas) whose parents were both born in Texas and was living with Henry and Martha Robinson and working as a laborer.
-1870 US census, Dallas, Precinct 5, an Alexander Costal (b. abt 1862 in Texas) is living with Wilson and Elizabeth Griffin.
Also living with this family is George Costal (b. abt 1854 in Texas).
-According to the 1860 census, Woodfield Caststeel b.1810 in TN living in Dallas, tx with wife Nancy (b.1818) with children Elizabeth, George (1855), James, and infant.
I have no idea if these people connect to my Alex Casteel. I have a suspicion that he was related to a George Casteel, though:
In the 1900 Census, I found Alex's widow, Anna living with his children and one page over I found another Casteel family:
In 1900 US census, Precinct 3 district 133- Dallas Countyy a widowed Lola Casteel (b. Aug 1862 in Missouri... and mother and father born in missouri) is living as a farmer with:
-a daughter Mary E. Golden (b. dec 1884 in Texas) whose father was born in Illinois and mother in Missouri
-a daughter Lillie B. Golden (b. Sept 1888 in Texas) whose father was born in Illinois and mother in Missouri
-a Daughter Bertha Golden (b. Oct 1890 in Texas) whose father was born in Illinois and mother in Missouri
-a daughter Matilda V. Casteel (b. Oct 1897 in Texas) whose father was born in Texas and mother in Missouri
-a son George W. Casteel (b. May 1900 in Texas) whose father was born in Texas and mother in Missouri
-a son Idea Casteel (b. May 1884 in Texas) whose father was born in Texas and mother in Tennesse
-a son Pleasant Casteel (b. May 1886 in Texas) whose father was born in Texas and mother in Tennessee
