Sarah, I am trying to find information on my great grandmother Elvira Casteel, approx b: 1856... She shows up in the 1870 Census, Alabama, Limestone, Roll 24 Book 1, page 174 Line 39. She is listed as domestic help for a Benjamin and Sarah Lentz. She was said to have married a Grisham and he was killed at a church picnic when a drunk started to shoot his pistol showing off and Grisham tried to stop him and in the process was shot. Elvira then married Abner D. Looney and they have been traced to Tennessee. My grandmother was born in Limestone County, Athens, Alabama in 1875 her name is Lola Estella I dont know if she carried the name of Casteel or Grisham. The Williams Family bible showed her maiden name as Grisham. Lola(aka, mommie)married James W. Williams in 1896. They had 10 children and 5 of them died either at birth or in the first 5 years of life due to consumption. They lived in Tennessee up until the 1930 census then they moved to Florence, Alabama. If you have any light you can shed on this family please advise. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you Lola R.(BEcky) Teninty Notify Administrator about this message?
