An interesting aside to the info in the last paragraph of your post is that when James Wyly of Blount County, TN died in 1850 he left 550 acres on the Tennessee River to two of his daughters and in his will referred to this land as The Casteel Tract. The widow (third wife) of James Wyly was one Mary Whittenberger whom he married in Jan 1828. This is the same Mary Whittenberger that was married to Abraham Casteel in 1818. Abraham shortly ran off with one Polly Hargreaves and the marriage was disolved in some manner.

Mary Whittenberger is my wife's gr gr gr grandmother and IF (a big one) this Abraham is the same Abraham that was born in TN around 1801-1802 and married Sally Reed in Pope County, IL in 1830, he is my gr gr grandfather.

If anyone ever gets the east TN Casteel puzzle figured out I hope they post it here.
