Kathleen - I'm the gg granddaughter of Sarahfina Dewitt Wilcox and William Lee Wilcox of Lincoln, NE. Sarahfina (I've seen it spelled both ways, but I do have her signature in her father's probate records of 1892)was the daughter of William (H?) Dewitt and Mary F. Casteel of Seward Co., Nebr.; Mason Co., IL, (Possibly Ohio) & Fayette Co, PA. William Dewitt was born in 1810 in PA and Mary in Maryland or Virginia. They lived north of Utica, NE and are buried in the Blue Ridge Cemetery, established by Wm. Dewitt on his farm.
I have been told Mary F. Casteel, born in Maryland, was the daughter of John Casteel and Margaret Friend. I do know of Friends and Casteels living in Nebraska in late 1890s that William & Mary Dewitt knew. Such as, 1)A Mary Ellen Friend married a John Casteel in Illinois and their family later lived in Aurora, NE. and 2) A civil war veteran, Thomas Casteel, also lived in Seward and York Co, Nebraska.
