It's entirely possible that we connect.
On 19 May 1853, in McMinn Co TN, Hiram James BROWN married Elizabeth Jane CASTEEL. One of their children was Cordelia BROWN (b. 14 Apr 1865). Is it possible that the "Betty" you mention was Elizabeth Jane CASTEEL, and that she named her daughter after her sister? Elizabeth was said to have been born 23 Mar 1832 in VA. We have been informed that her father was Alexander CASTEEL, and that he died in McMinn Co TN in 1867, but have no hard evidence. One reference indicated that Alexander's wife might have been Susan CAMP?
