Martha "Patsy" Cass/Cast [Surry Co. NC Marriage Bonds, p. 197, 25 Feb 1789] dau of James Cass who was pressed into the British Navy at the age of six or seven years and trained to a sea-faring life. Being separated from his relatives at so early an age, he never understood his name and called himself James CAST. He came to Philadelphia, PA, but finally settled in Iredall Co. NC. After rearing a family there, he moved with his family to Clark Co. KY. There he met two Englishmen by the name CASS. After becoming acquainted, he found that one of the men was his brother and the other his cousin, and for the first time learned that his family name was CASS. James d. 15 Jul 1816. Martha "Patsy" Cass/Cast [who died before her father] m. as 2nd wife 25 Feb 1789 [see above] James Taylor Riley b. 10 Apr 1764 Frederick [now Montgomery] Co. MD; WD 11 Sep 1838; WP 12 Nov 1838 Clay Co. MO [son of Ninian Riley and Elizabeth Taylor]. James Taylor Riley and Martha "Patsy" had 10 Children.
