Cason lineage

I am looking for information on my family tree. My grandfather said his family came from a small town in Arkansas called Parakeet. He also told me that his older brother, my great uncle, changed the spelling of our last name from Casson to Cason sometime around 1930-1940. My Grandfather's name was Strawny Edgar Casson and my great Uncle's name was Bill, however, "they" tell me that Bill was a nickname. If anyone can just get started with a hint it would be helpful. I've traced my mother's family and been quite successful, but the Cason/Casson side just isn't falling into place.
