I am a Cassels. My father (Bert) born in Portland, OR in 1898. Moved to Seattle.
Grandfather Angus William assels born in Ontario. Great Grandfather (possibly Roderick - married to Barbara Sutherland of Fife) born in Scotland. There are several branches of Cassels from Scotland beginning around 1320. Supposedly from Kennedy Clan of Ayrshire - Carrick. Later became Earl of Cassillis. Some brances of Cassillis/Cassels supported England, and some Scotland.
If any of this has a relationship to your two trees, please respond
