Robert J. "Bob" Cassidy Visitation for Mr. Robert J. "Bob" Cassidy, 80, of Pensacola, Fla., will be from 9 a.m. until the time of a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at St. Mary of Vernon Church, 236 W. Highway 45, Indian Creek. Interment with full military honors will be at Fort Sheridan Cemetery. Born May 18, 1929, in Indianapolis, Ind., he passed away Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at Covenant Hospice, surrounded by loved ones. Bob lived in Vernon Hills from 1976 to 2004. He was formerly with the CTA, worked in materials management in the transportation industry, and is also retired from the Navy. He was active in the American Legion and St. Vincent de Paul Society at the Church of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Pensacola, and was a founding member of St. Mary of Vernon Parish. Surviving are his wife, Joan (McLauchlan) Cassidy; children, Patrick, Suzanne Puckett, Michael, Margaret Brown and Elizabeth Cassidy-Kane; stepchildren, Lauchlan Jones, Robert Anderson, Holly Hanson and Granville Anderson; 29 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Ronald Cassidy. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Byron and Richard Cassidy and Edward Sprietsma. Arrangements were made by Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, Libertyville, 847-362-3009.
