Hi Angela,

I spoke to my mother but she doesn't know very much more. She thinks that Garret was a stonemason, which sounds right, and it was her cousin who thought he came from Banagher. She thinks her father (Joseph Cassidy) told her it was Lough Derg. I noticed in the other replies that someone had found a Garret Cassidy in Griffiths Valuation 1n Eglish, and when I looked on the map, all three of these places are fairly close to each other in Co. Ofally. It's also seems that they moved fairly frequently, as none of their children were born in the same place, so it's still possible they were married elsewhere ?

Although Garret junior gives his birthplace as Crook, Co Durham, we've not been able to trace a record of this in the files, but I'm still looking.

Do you know where or when Garrett and Margaret died ?

Regards

John
