Hi John ! Lovely hearing from you ! My connection is Anne Cassidy born 1844 who lived in Newcastle upon Tyne and later Sunderland. She is my great great grandmother. Garrett was born in 1821 and Margaret 1823. Anne born Ireland 1844 (my connection) Elizabeth born Bolton Lancs England 1847 John born 1853 in Ireland Garrett born 1855 in Crook Co Durham. I have the birth certificate for Elizabeth where it states the mother was Margaret REGAN born Ireland (no town mentioned) There is a Martha in the household (1881 census) but she was Garrett & Margarets daughter in law.Wife to John Cassidy. Martha was born in Hexham Northumberland. In 1881 they were living in 22 Berwick St Gateshead.Co Durham Eng. On the 1881 census Garrett jnr age 25yrs was a lodger together with Edward James Collins age 16yrs from Sunderland living at Holstien St in Preston. Garrett was an elementary teacher and Edward James Collins was a pupil teacher. Banagher is in County Offaly. I did find a death of GARRETT Cassidy B 1793 died 1869 in Parsontown which I believe is in Co Offaly. (not sure though) He could have been Garret senior ? On the other hand taking into account that Garrett Cassidy married Margaret Regan it is usual for the bride to be married in her local church. There are many REGANS in Cork ? The Cassidy clan came mostly from Fermanagh and Monaghan.. Look forward to hearing from you ! Regards Angela Notify Administrator about this message?
