Cape Cod Times (Hyannis, MA) - March 23, 1999 Deceased Name: Bernard J. Cassidy FALMOUTH - Bernard J. Cassidy, 75, died yesterday at JML Care Center in Falmouth following a long illness. He was the husband of Mitch (Morgan) Cassidy, to whom he was married for 45 years. Mr. Cassidy was born in Brockton and moved to Falmouth as a child. He was a 1942 graduate of Lawrence High School and attended Newman Preparatory School in Boston. Mr. Cassidy worked for the post office until his retirement in 1972 and later at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution from 1972 to 1989. Both before and after his retirement, he worked for the late Hilda Coppage, former owner of the Popponesset and Coonamessett Inns. He was active in St. Patrick's Church for his entire life, serving as an altar boy, usher and volunteer for the annual Catholic Charities appeal. He and his family were members of the Woods Hole Golf Club for more than 30 years. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, James B. Cassidy of Falmouth and R. Michael Cassidy of Winchester; a daughter, Jane Cassidy Mudge of Norwalk, Conn.; a sister, Margaret Cassidy of Falmouth; a brother, Gerald Cassidy of Plymouth; and two grandsons. A funeral will form at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main St., Falmouth, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church on Main St. in Falmouth. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Falmouth. Visiting hours are 5 to 7 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home.
