John P. "Jack" Cassidy John P. "Jack" Cassidy, 74, passed away peacefully at the DuPage County Convalescent Home in Wheaton, Ill. on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008. Jack was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on May 26, 1934, to Joseph J. and Anne (nee Clancy) Cassidy, the third of four boys. Jack graduated from St. Edmund's School, St. Augustine's High School and St. John's University, all in Brooklyn. He served in the Army from 1953 through 1955. In 1960, he married Patricia Sullivan and they have two sons, John and James. Jack spent his career in the food service industry. In 1971, while being employed with the National Restaurant Association, he moved to Chicago. He later spent many years with the Del Monte Corporation. The family resided in Wheaton for the past 37 years. Jack is survived by his wife; his sons; his brothers, Joseph (Mary), Robert (Elizabeth) and Edward (Elizabeth); and many cherished cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving mother and father; nephew, Joseph Jr.; and sister-in-law, Mary Kay Farrell Cassidy. Jack was a good man with a quick wit and an easy smile. Above all, he loved his wife, his sons, his dear family and friends, his Roman Catholic faith, and his beloved Brooklyn Dodgers. "God bless you Jack, we love you more than words can say and will miss you every day." The family would like to thank the dedicated nurses and doctors at Central DuPage Hospital who cared for Jack with gentleness and compassion, along with the administrative staff, nurses and doctors at DuPage Convalescent Home who gave him peace, privacy and dignity in his final days. "We also acknowledge the kindness and caring of the CNS Hospice Group who guided us carefully with skill, care and love." Visitation will be Wednesday, from 4 to 9 p.m. at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Road (one block east of Naperville Road), Wheaton. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, at 11 a.m. at St. Michael Church, Wheaton. Please meet at the church. Interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery.
