Warren J. Cassidy | Claims manager, 83 Warren J. Cassidy, 83, of Paoli, an Allstate Insurance Co. claims manager and a decorated World War II veteran, died Wednesday at Paoli Hospital of head injuries from a fall at home. A native of New York City, Mr. Cassidy enlisted in the Army at 18. He served as a sergeant with the 10th Mountain Infantry in Italy. During heavy fighting near the Po River in April 1945, he rescued a soldier and destroyed an enemy observation point. He was awarded a Bronze Star and a Silver Star for valor. After his discharge, Mr. Cassidy earned a bachelor's degree and a law degree from Fordham University. He worked for Allstate in New York and New Jersey before transferring to the Philadelphia area in 1967. After retiring from Allstate in 1984, he was a consultant with the law division of CNA Insurance in Philadelphia. Recently he had been assisting his son Keith at the Allstate office in Berwyn. In addition to his son, he is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marion Curnin Cassidy; sons Brian, Andrew and Richard; daughters Karen Gerba, Claudia Cammarata and Denise Evans; and 10 grandchildren. Daughter Treesha died in 2000. A Funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. tomorrow at St. Norbert Church, 50 Leopard Rd., Paoli. Friends may call from 9 a.m. at the church and from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Alleva Funeral Home, 1724 E. Lancaster Ave., Paoli.
