This name is spelled several ways in different records. John Caseldine and his son John Jr. came to KY and settled in Montgomery County in 1797 or possibly before that. It was not a STATE before then and they show up on the first tax rolls. John Sr married Rebecca Owings and there were several children. I believe John Jr. was from a first marriage. John Jr. went to Ohio about 1810 or so. There are several Casseldine and Castledine and Caseldines there for the next thirty years or so. James Casseldine married Betsey Becraft and they went to Indiana. Nancy Casseldine married William Becraft and went to Decatur Co.,IN about 1825. Sarah (Sally) Casseldine married David Peugh and had one son John C. Peugh before David died in 1824 and then she went to Decatur Co.,IN and married Thomas Fortune, a much older man from Bath co,KY who had several children. They had two more children Letty and Marticia Fortune. Hannah Casseldine married a man named Staton. Elsey casseldine married a man named Evans (we think D O Evans. Both of them stayed in the KY area. Samuel Casseldine went to Indiana, married and had several children. We don't know what happened to Henry. Nearly every Casseldine/Caseldine/Castledine/Caseldim/Caselden we have found has come from one of these people. Except for a family of Castledines that came from England in 1800's. Even they may be realated in some way. I would love to hear from anyone who has any Casseldine of any spelling whatsoever and see if we can fit you into this family tree.
