Kay,
My mother always said that Granny Lizzie had been married three times after Henry, but like I've said as of the 1930 census I can only find two others. My grandmother's name was Adna, but her husband Henry Aliff didn't like Adna and changed it to Ada. Lizzie couldn't stand Henry as the Aliff's were Republicans and were for the North whereas Elizabeth according to my mother held a grudge against the North and the Republican party because of her father, William Cassady, being imprisoned for not fighting for the Union. My grandmother had to slip to date Henry as she was forbidden by Lizzie to see him.She had her first cousin Jamie Taylor oar her across the Tug to meet Henry on the WV side to court. She and Henry eloped to Williamson WV to marry. The same cousin Jamie Taylor was one of their witnesses. Thank you so much for the deed info. That helps me so much. The Ray Taylor you spoke of that is Lassie's son isn't it? I met him at Uncle Tom's funeral along with his mother. I remember every Memorial Day my granny along with all four of her boys would go to decorate graves. The boys would always joke about climbing the moubtain to decorate Lizzie and Henry's graves. I think that Dennis and Lassie got the home place. The children drew lots to see who got what. My grandmother drew the homeplace section. My grandmother inherited it for her part, but traded it to Dennis for land as she lived in Fort Gay and Dennis needed the homeplace. I intend to go to Martin County this summer to do some research. I am about a two and half hour drive from there. At that time I will try to determine what Lizzie's last husband and name was when she died. If I find the graves I will take pictures and send you a copy. Do you know if anyone has a picture of the Henry and Elizabeth Taylor family? I would love to see what they looked like. Thanks again for all your help.
Your cousin,
Sherry
