Hi Donna:Several answers to your last two messages:
The 1930 Census I was looking at is the copy of the actual written page, so no transcription error involved. When I put the name in to search, nothing come up for Kesler, but the 1930 Census came up for Kessler.I can find no entries in the 1920 Census for either spelling.
However, I may have your Mary Casperson in my files from the 1900 Soundex, but I do not have a spouse, so I do not know for sure.According to the 1930 Census referred to above, Mary was 49 so that makes her born in 1880 or 1881.Mary M. Casperson was born 25 July 1880 in New Jersey, daughter of Jesse M. Casperson and Hannah S. Clement.(This sounds right as well since their daughter in the 1930 Census is named Hannah.)
Jesse and Hannah lived near Paulsboro, NJ.Jesse was born 21 Sept 1846 and died 24 December 1914 near Paulsboro.Hannah was born 15 June 1854 and died 20 August 1918 in Paterson, NJThey were married 19 July 1877 according to Gloucester Co., NJ records. This family is all listed in the 1900 Soundex.
Mary M. Casperson had two brothers, William Clement Casperson, (born 2 Jan 1879 in NJ and died April 1970 in FL), and Jesse M. Casperson, Jr. (born about October 1890 and died 19 February 1892 (age 16 months) in Paulsboro, NJ.She also had a sister Deborah C. Casperson, born 8 September 1884.
If you think this is your family, I have a couple more generations back.
I have not written to Gloucester County Historical Society for several years, but their address then was PO Box 409, Woodbury, NJ 08096
Let me know what you think of my theory that this is your Mary.
Julia
