Caspary, Caspari
Aloha,
It's a rare thing for me to find anyone who shares this name. Both of my parents were only children and all of my grandparents, save one, were dead long before I was born so I have little sense of any family at all much less of continuity through lineage.
The little family lore that I know is that two brothers (Caspari) immigrated to Louisiana and then into Texas from France at least, if not more, about six or eight generations ago. Somewhere along the way the spelling changed to "Caspary."
I'd heard from a brief email contact with another 'Caspary' that the name was French in origin but that many Casparys were Huguenots and fled to Germany during the 16th and early 17th centuries. It appears that most of the Casparys, in the U.S. at least trace thier lineage to Germany. Perhaps my own lineage stems from those who remained in France.
