Carthage, June 15.—Alexander Van
Brocklin, aged 78 years, died on June
18 at the residence of his son. Eugene,
with whom he hat tealded some time.
Mr. Van Brocklin was a retired farmer
and had resided in and around Carthage
all his life, and waa much respected.
Besides hia son he ia aurvived
by two brothers, Alonxo Van Broeklia
of Clare and Daniel Van Brocklin of
Pierpont'and by two sisters, Mrs.
Harriet Clark of Canton and Mrs.
Nancy Packard of California. Tbe
funeral was held this sfternoon at 3
from tbe residence* of Eugene Van
Brocklin, Rev. F. L. Knapp officiating
ana interment was made in Fairview
cemetery.

died at her home m North Washington

She was born In Pennsylvania, and
wu the daughter of the late Joseph
and Elisabeth Kesler. She came to
this lection when young, and had
ilnce resided here.

EUGENE A. VAN BR0OO1N
Died Monday at Masonic Home in
Utica at the Age of 58.
Eugene A. VanBrocklin, 58, of
Brown ville, millwright for a number
of years, died Monday evening at the
Masonic home in Utlca, where he had
been a guest for two years. Mr. Van-
Broklin suffered a cerebral hemorrhage
last Saturday night and was unconscious
from that time until his
death.
Mr. VanBrocklin was born In New
Bremen, Lewis county, July 12, 1872,
a son of the late Elizabeth Casler and
Alexander VanBrocklin, whos ancestors
were among the pioneer settlers
of Lewis county. ^
Besides his wife, he is survived by
two sons, Adelbert and Carl Van-
Brocklin, of Brown ville; five sisters,
Mrs. Dora Champion and Mrs. James
Champion, of Carthage, Mrs. Addie
Wilbur, Lowville; M^s. Dewitt Carter,
Holland Patent, and Mrs. Ella Stoffel,
IjbwrlUe; one brother, Edward Van-
Brocklin of Carthage', and1 • several
nephews and nieces.
Funeral services, which will be in
charge of the Brownville Masonic
lodge, will be held Thursday at 2 at
the VanBrocklin home, Rev. William
T. Thayer, ptfstor of the Dexter Presbyterian
church, officiating. Burial
will be at Carthage.

He is survived by his widow and two
daughters. Mr. Champion was a mem
ber of company B., 07th infantry, and
his old comrades speak of him as being
a good soldier. He served five years
and was wounded at the battle
Gettysburg. The deceased was a mem
ber of Ouilford D. Bailey Post, (i. A.
R., of Lowville, and members of the
organization attended the funeral last
Friday.
